Dr. Darrell Donahue Joins as Regional Coordinator

Montana State University (MSU) is pleased to announce that Dr. Darrell Donahue has been hired as the Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (Western SARE) Regional Coordinator, effective September 1.

Dr. Donahue comes to MSU most recently from West Virginia University, where he served as Special Assistant to the Provost and President, following four years as Dean of the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design. He has also held leadership roles as Professor and Chair of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University and as Vice President for Operations and Research Director at Maine Maritime Academy. Earlier in his career, he spent 17 years at the University of Maine as a professor of chemical engineering and Associate Director of the Forest Bioproducts Research Institute.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Donahue’s work has centered on agriculture and food safety, with expertise in statistics, modeling, and simulation for chemical and microbial risk assessment. He has served as an AAAS Fellow at the Department of Homeland Security, participated on multiple National Academies and international panels, and currently serves as Secretary of the UN International Committee on Microbiological Specifications for Foods.
