Emily Cornell with Sol Ranch and Zach Withers with Polk’s Folly Farm, both in New Mexico, describe their project applying compost to their rangelands through a Western SARE Farmer/Rancher grant. They were able to increase their forage production, water infiltration, and soil microbial activity. Zach notes that they increased forage production by 78% in year.
