Changes at PDP

October 28, 2020

Long-time Associate PDP Coordinator Al Kurki retired in September, and Western SARE welcomes Jenna Meeks and Sara Trojan as our new Associate PDP Coordinators.

Al started when the PDP program was first funded, 1994. In testimonials provided by staff, Administrative Council members, and state coordinators, it was abundantly clear that his skills in evaluation and managing project reports were instrumental in the program’s achievements over the years. Just as importantly, Al is greatly respected for his even temperament, transparency, and support of all of us at Western SARE. His priority was always what was best for the program.

His long-time colleague Jim Freeburn, PDP Coordinator says about Al, “Our program would not be as strong as it is without what you have done. I’m very glad to have worked with you and to have had your steady presence through the years.”

And previous AC Chair Larry Cundall states, “Al always has the best interest of producers and their plight as his moral compass doing Western SARE duties. It is so appreciated by this producer and friend.”

Jenna and Sara began their positions on September 1, jumping right in.

According to Jim, Jenna and Sara are quick learners with outstanding agricultural backgrounds.

“Both Jenna and Sara have already made contributions to the SARE program and have gained great traction in understanding the overall grant-making process.  We are excited to have them as part of the Western SARE team and look forward to great things as they move forward,” says Jim.
